Improved Audience Management for Internal News

The new Advanced audience configuration makes internal communications more powerful and relevant. You can now configure your news publications so they reach the right audience, at the right time—whether by role, tenant type, or building.

Key improvements

  • Target by role – Share news only with tenant key-users, or extend it to their personnel via the HyperIn app.

  • Target by tenant type – Send specific updates to Retail, Office, Restaurant/Café, or other groups.

  • Target by building/area – Reach tenants in specific parts of your real estate.

  • Targeted notifications – Push and email notifications now follow these audience filters.

This helps tenants and their personnel get the information they need, without unnecessary noise.

How It Works

1. Audience by Role

When publishing internal news:

  • You can select whether to share with tenant key-users only or with both tenant key-users and personnel.

  • Personnel targeting requires the HyperIn Mobile Intranet app.

  • Admin users always see all news.

2. Audience by Tenant Type

Tenant types allow you to categorize recipients and tailor communications. Types include:

  • Store/Retail

  • Restaurant/Café

  • Office

  • Specialty Leasing*

  • Other (default if no type assigned)

* Specialty Leasing tenants with Yardi integration require manual assignment of reporting obligations.

Tenant types can be assigned via Tenant Management or the Tenant Bulk Editor.

3. Audience by Building/Area

Buildings/areas define specific sections or ownership units within a real estate.

  • Already used for sales statistics, this is now expanded to the Internal News audience configuration.

  • If buildings/areas are configured, you’ll see them as a filter option when creating news.

  • Tenants must be linked to the correct building/area for targeting to work.

Use the Organization tool or Tenant bulk editor to assign tenants to buildings/areas.

4. Combined Filtering

All three filters can be combined to create highly specific audiences.
Example: publish news only to tenant key-users in retail tenants located in Building X.

Notifications

Audience configuration also applies to notifications:

  • Push notifications – sent only to personnel who match filters.

  • Email notifications – sent only to relevant tenant key-users.

  • Admins always see all news items.

What Users See

Admin View

  • Audience configurations are shown in the admin table (by role, tenant type, building).

  • Default = “All” if no filters are applied.

Tenant View

  • Tenants see icons and labels indicating targeted audiences on news cards.

  • Distribution information is displayed at the bottom of each article.

HyperIn Mobile Intranet App Support

These updates are coming with a later mobile intranet release, to improve the visualization and user experience in the app.

  • Audience and distribution information will be displayed in the app's news listing.

  • Archived internal news items will also be available.

Getting Started

To use Advanced Audience Configuration effectively, make sure to:

  1. Make sure that the correct tenant types are assigned to your tenants. (Note that HyperIn has already made tenant type assignments on your behalf to help you get started.)

  2. If needed, create buildings/areas for your real estate, and associate them with your tenants.

  3. Use the Audience section in Internal News to select filters when publishing.

Tip: Using the HyperIn App is a more effective and efficient way to reach out to your center's personnel and tenants.
